What is Document of Compliance ?
DOC means a
document issued to a company which complies with the requirement of ISM Code.
• The ship
should be operated by a company which has been issued with a DOC or with interim
DOC in accordance with the regulation, relevant to that ship.
• The
document should be issued by the administration and by an organization recognized
by the administration.
• DOC is
valid only for 5 years.
• This DOC is
only valid for the ships type indicated in the document. (Other ship types
should only be added after verification of the company capability to comply with
requirement of this code applicable to such ship types.)
• The validity
of a document of compliance should be subjected to annual verification by the
administration or at urgent request of administration by another contracting government
within three months before or after anniversary date.
• The DOC
should be withdrawn by the administration or at its request by the contracting
government which issued this document when you do not request them for annual
survey or if there is evidence of major non-conformities with this code. Along
with it, SMC or Interim SMC will also be withdrawn if the DOC is withdrawn.
• A copy of
the DOC Should be placed onboard that the master of ship. If requested, may
produce it for verification by administration or contracting government.
